Εβδομάδα 6: This feels like it's from God or something"

Image
Sorry for the long email in advance, this week was great!  Scroll to the bottom for the pics haha (; Life is still going in the good old England MTC! It continues to be so busy, and jammed packed with so many great experiences even after 6 weeks!  AND I gave my first sacrament talk in Greek! ALSO, another cool thing. "Utah" literally means "top of the mountains". And then, in Isaiah 56:7 we read, "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer... for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people." That's a pretty sweet connection in my mind. *skip on to Saturday’s recap to read about our experience with Βέρα!! … our first conversation with a member in Greece!* TUESDAY 3.19.19 Awesome day! Temple at 9, then after all the Germans and Greeks took the bus to Chorley! Walked around for a bit, and eventually wound up at McDs haha. Can’t get by without American food for that long. T

Eβδομάδα 5: "I want to be a verb!"

Image
Only spoke to Kaylee for a short time this morning. She was off to play soccer in the mud with the German missionaries who are leaving next week. She said her tennis shoes were just starting to look normal... “Θέλω να είμαι ένα ρήμα!” … I want to be a verb!! One of Pascuzzo’s frequently used phrases! We were trying to figure out what our name tags will be in Greece… since they have to break the tags we wear in the MTC since our names are in English… and since our names are all in caps Pascuzzo wants an omega (Ω) at the end of his name cus it looks cooler than an omicron (Ο), but our teacher says he can’t have an omega or his name would be a verb… sooo whenever we talk about our greek names you know what’ll he’ll say haha (; I forgot the English word for Δάσκαλος (teacher) at one point this week, it was REALLY WEIRD. Same with ευχαριστώ (thanks ) and συγνώμη (sorry) ! I think that’s its good thing?? TUESDAY 3.12.19 Good old pdays! Another 8 am temple session to start of

Eβδομάδα 4: Under the bonnet and in the boot

Image
WOAH I'VE BEEN OUT 1 MONTH!  Funny phrase to say that the Germans taught us: dies geschieht!! Don't say it too much tho lol, someone might get mad haha, it mean "it happens" Weirdest thing I found out this week: UK people call the hood of a car a “bonnet” and the trunk a “boot”… um whattt??  TUESDAY 3.5.19 Only 20 of us in the MTC today! Really empty and quiet. We all walked into town and got some British chocolate! YUMMM. Cadbury dairy milk bars are so much better than US chocolate by far. Wish I could send some home. Crossing the streets is scary, everyone just jay walks but since everyone drives on opposite sides of the street it’s sketchy crossing.  WEDNESDAY 3.6.19 The newbies made it! 44 of them! Mostly elders this time, and a ton from the US. We got to welcome all of them, and help take their luggage while they went through the new missionary process. Plus we got out of class for a bit, no complaints there (; 5 are fluent German speakers an

Eβδομάδα 3: wishy washy week

Time in the MTC goes by so fast… I think that’s a good thing though because we still get a solid 6 weeks of this haha.  Each night we personally read the Book of Mormon in Greek. Even though I am far from understanding this foreign language, my testimony is strengthened, especially when I am able to recognize some of my favorite scriptures. The same message and Spirit can be felt every time I study from it, that's the best part about it! Anywaysss here’s the down low of week 3! TUESDAY 2.26.19 We got to do another session at the temple this morning and did more family names! It’s crazy how old some of the names Grandma and Grandpa Chan find are... an ancestor from 510 was really cool for us to see! Some fun RANDOM facts from Greek class tonight… 1. The National animal of Scotland is a Unicorn?! 2. Greece is full of cockroaches :’((( not gonna lie that one freaked me out WEDNESDAY 2.27.19 Αμαρτία (sin) and μαρτυρία (testimony) are way too similar! Same with μέοω
