Eβδομάδα 2: Please help us not get wrecked in Greek

Image
Greek word of the week: αλληλοεκτιαραθυρρωνόμαστε!  Which means “we throw you out the window” hahaha, brother Craig taught us that and said we might get to use it (; WEEK 2 OF MTC LIFE! WEDNESDAY 2.20.19 We basically did math with greek letters to make words today, lol, well kinda sorta, that’s how I thought about it anyways and it made it a little easier! Volleyball is super fun with all the missionaries here! We met our last teacher, Brother Craig. He’s awesome! And just got back from his mission in Greece 6 months ago! So his Greek is GOOD. We watched an MTC devotional from Elder Holland and it was fantastic! He emphasized the point to MAKE OUR MISSIONS COUNT!  THURSDAY 2.21.19 Language learning here is like drinking from a fire hydrant. It is insane. My brain is still Spanish wired and it sucks!  FRIDAY 2.22.19 Had so much fun playing fútbol with a few other districts! Even tho I got nailed 2xs in the eye but it was all good, it’s so hard not keeping score! Y

Γεια σας EVERYONE!!! 1st things first... I LOVE THE MTC AND I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!! It's seriously the best thing ever! England is SO PRETTY WOW. and so green! I'm also really happy to be out of the snow too haha.  We can only take pictures on p-day so there's a bunch at the bottom!  THE DAILY RUN THROUGHS! TUESDAY 2.12.19 Long day of traveling...like longggggg. 16.5 hours today i think?? But I slept through most of my flights so it went by pretty quick, and yes i did make all 3 of my flights (; thankfully I met up with Elder Hawkins whose also going to my mission on my last flight from Amsterdam to Manchester. It was nice to actually be able to talk to someone and not be riding solo anymore!  I don't think I realized how social of a person I am until I was by myself for so long, think that's a good thing haha.  WEDNESDAY 2.13.19 Met up with the 1st group of missionaries! I found Sister Smith and Sister Wixom! We all took a long bus ride and finally

I MADE IT!!

(Kaylee's first letter home!!) HEYYY!!  I'm here!  I love it, it's so awesome! Everyone is so nice and we are all already such good friends! Well at least the 1st group of us haha. There's another group coming at 2 and then at 3! I haven't met my companion yet tho. When we got here there were ZERO missionaries! There will only be 55 of us here soon and then it'll start getting smaller as everyone starts leaving... and then it'll just be the 5 Greek missionaries left! YUPPP just 5 of us! 3 elders and 2 sisters! I met elder Hawkins when we were about to board the flight to Manchester. He's Greek speaking too! So we stuck together. They had to check our passports and that was kinda complicated... I didn't have a letter from the church but luckily he did so we just told the people we were together and they didn't ask too many more questions. and then we got our luggage and sat down to wait. So we just chilled and talked for a probably around 30 o

Off she goes!!

Goodbyes are the worst and the hardest. We all survived and Kaylee's flights went as planned. She left from PSC at 6:40 a.m. We showed up at 4:45 a.m., so early!! We had purchased a "pre-paid calling card" for her to use to check in with us, BUT fyi, pay-phones are mostly "extinct". Fortunately, an airport customer service agent at MSP, let Kaylee use her cell-phone to call home. Her flight from MSP to Amsterdam was 8.5 hours long. She found a BYU-I student (not sure on details) who let her use his phone to video chat us at home again, and helped her find the next departure gate. Kaylee's last flight was to Manchester, England...arriving at 8:20 a.m. (which is 12:20 a.m. PST). Not sure what time they were picked up there and charter-bused to the MTC (30 min away)...but just to Manchester was 16.5 hours of traveling for our Kaylee. Before all the actual goodbyes. Saying good-bye's via facetime to those farther away. . . .
