Εβδομάδα 46: "it's a GHETTO!"

Image
Φίλοι και οικογένεια! Jenny Oaks Baker concert was a hit! They were so amazing and our 65-ish friends who were able to make it LOVED it! They're such a talented family and absolutely brought the true spirit of Christmas into everyone's hearts. I didn't realize it till a little later but President Anderson is actually the executive producer of her CD so that's way cool! He has connections with everyone I swear! We got more creative with our finding activities and decided to try a hot chocolate stand and pass out light the world CDs this week! It was FREEZING tho! The wind kept blowing away the whiteboard so it was basically a half disaster and half success haha, but ya live and learn right?! We had some good natural conversations tho which was really nice, and people seemed to be more open when we kindly offered them hot coco instead of going straight into gospel discussions. It was funny because we met a guy named Arpit (REALLY close I know haha). The elders we

Εβδομάδα 45: Καλά Χριστούγεννα!

Fast one this week was. Although it didn't seem like we did a whole lot since we were busy advertising everyday all week for the Jenny Oaks Baker concert that we'll be having tonight! Lots and lots of caroling and handing out flyers. Really hoping we have a good turnout because we were in charge of getting a whole 200 seats filled, crossing our fingers on that one. It also has been weirdly warm this week and super rainy. Didn't feel like Christmas time. But we aren't complaining cus if the weather is as bipolar as it has been it'll be back to cold this week :( Since we had early transfers and the schedule was crazy we ended up having to Skype into Zone conference instead of flying to Athens like normal. Bad idea. The connection was terrible and we couldn't see nor hear anything clearly. So we ended up making pancakes during the call and having a district breakfast in between the words we could make out from the sketchy signal haha. Funny memory.  We'

Εβδομάδα 44: Γλυκό είναι το Έργο! ♡

This was a special week of my mission. One that will be hard to forget! The biggest reason being that Sister Vennerholm and I got to be witnesses for not just one but TWO precious baptisms! History was made and Sister Vennerholm and I got to be the 1st sisters to witness a baptism in Greece! Also 2 funny things: 1. We had our branch Christmas party and Λούκας, the Tanto's family's toddler, pulled down the Christmas tree as the closing prayer was being said 2. A band decided to have band practice below our apartment building during sacrament meeting so we had "eye of the tiger" playing throughout the entire meeting haha We have started teaching a new friend this week! Her name is Κυριακή (Kiki for short). She feels like a grandma to us honestly and is so kind. She has previously taken the discussions from missionaries a few years back and absolutely LOVES the prophet Joseph Smith. I have never seen anyone with a testimony stronger than hers about him. And I&#

Εβδομάδα 43: a...PROPOSAL?!?! 💍😳

Ohhh boyyy... let me just fill ya in because this mission just got a whole lot crazier. So late Tuesday night we get a phone call from all the elders saying they had some news and lots to tell to us regarding our investigators and that it wasn't good stuff. Uhhh okay??!? They start off by telling us, "so ya know how we were at brother Todi's last night?? Well he had some things to tell us that Dimitris told him when he was there earlier today having a video call lesson with you guys. Apparently Dimitris was planning on professing his love and PROPOSING to Sister Gale!" We all start laughing so hard haha. WHAT?! They said that brother Todi set him straight and told him he couldn't do that and he'd have to write a letter to President Anderson for permission to marry me. Ummm I'm not about to get set up for an arranged marriage by any terms hahaha. And the news of the call didnt stop there... it got even better (or worse depending on how you look at it lo

Εβδομάδα 42: πρώτος σεισμός aka 1ST EARTHQUAKE!!

HEYYY! Wow was this week anything but normal. We were in our area for a whole 3 days haha. Well we got sad news about the Persian family we've been teaching English to that calls themselves "Mormons". Because of they're background and family back home, we won't be able to teach them anything gospel related for safety reasons. But they are so so good, absolutely love us, and would be just the golden family to teach! We are confident the Lord has a plan for them and the gospel will be brought to them at some point (hopefully soon), just not by us. So we are continuing with helping them with English and just being their friends. Early Wednesday morning (4:30 am to be exact), we were up and headed to the airport to fly down to Athens for a mission tour. Elder and Sister Sabin, the Area 70 President and his wife, requested the presence of all the missionaries in Greece and Cyprus. Which means I got to see Sister Kruger again who has been in Cyprus still, not go
