Eβδομάδα 4: Under the bonnet and in the boot

WOAH I'VE BEEN OUT 1 MONTH!

Funny phrase to say that the Germans taught us: dies geschieht!! Don't say it too much tho lol, someone might get mad haha, it mean "it happens"

Weirdest thing I found out this week: UK people call the hood of a car a “bonnet” and the trunk a “boot”… um whattt??

TUESDAY 3.5.19
Only 20 of us in the MTC today! Really empty and quiet. We all walked into town and got some British chocolate! YUMMM. Cadbury dairy milk bars are so much better than US chocolate by far. Wish I could send some home. Crossing the streets is scary, everyone just jay walks but since everyone drives on opposite sides of the street it’s sketchy crossing.

WEDNESDAY 3.6.19
The newbies made it! 44 of them! Mostly elders this time, and a ton from the US. We got to welcome all of them, and help take their luggage while they went through the new missionary process. Plus we got out of class for a bit, no complaints there (; 5 are fluent German speakers and 2 French, then the rest are mostly English speaking. I found Elder Southwick! The elder that Kaytee Eller said to look out for who’s going to her mission, he’s cool! He totally reminds me of Ethan. Taught our last lesson in English, well in the MTC at least.

FRIDAY 3.8.19
GREEK. IS. HARD. We got slammed with new stuff, its a bit overwhelming now, but we got 5 more weeks to get better (:

SATURDAY 3.9.19
Δάσκαλος Scharff brought us each a Boost chocolate bar! It’s his favorite and he wanted to share the goodness haha. And man did we need it. Way good. It’s like an upgraded twix bar pumped with sugar, it definitely woke us up. We taught 2 lessons today. 1 15-min one in Greeklish and another 15-min one purely in Greek. I thought both went really good. We just need to work on NOT using our notes to read our sentences, but I feel like we’re improving. We played chair soccer with the 15 of us we had for sports today. Only 1 vent and 1 elder’s glasses got broken, sis Munns got nailed in the eye, and sis Dooley got it straight in the gut 2xs… probs not the safest game but it was fun! I wrote my 1st talk in Greek, we’ll see if I get called on to give it tomorrow!

SUNDAY 3.10.19
Didn’t get called on to talk, the Greeks were off the hook again this week. We watched 2 devotionals today, both super super good. Maybe it’s because they’re from Elder Holland and he’s just awesome. Provo MTC devos have easily become my favorite part of Sundays. The May 2015 one was the one we watched, it’s called “Signing onto the Lord’s Work”. Some take aways:
1. If we love the Savior, we will FEED HIS SHEEP. We can all have a “Peter moment” at some point throughout our lives and I hope we can experience that sooner than later! It’s something we must individually decide. We all have the same potential as Peter and can become fishers of men.
2. *mostly applicable to missionaries* We can never go back to anything we were before our mission. We should Never fall away. How could we? We are God’s investigators. We wouldn’t want anyone of our investigators to walk away from the gospel, so why would we let ourselves?
3. “Preach my gospel by my Spirit”. To be known, the truth must be stated, the Lord’s language is the most powerful. The adversary wants us to keep our mouths shut. We must strive against silence and open our mouths BOLDLY.

MONDAY 3.11.19
Everyone went finding in Manchester today! I think we had more missionaries than seats on the bus ride there. We had lots of good convos with people and handed out a good amount of pass along cards (: we found a Greek restaurant but the workers didn’t really speak that much Greek, we’re still trying to find the Greek restaurant that αδελφός Scharff told us to go to to practice our language.

Favorite scripture from this week:
Matthew 18:14
"Διότι δεν είναι το θέλημα του Πατέρα σου που είναι στον ουρανό, ότι ένα από αυτά τα μικρά θα πρέπει να χαθεί"

Love you all! Have a good week!

Love,
Sister Gale
